Agriculture, forestry & fishing · production cycles and dual units

Every production cycle has a cost — know it before you sell the harvest

In farming and fish farming, cost stretches over months — seeds, seedlings, feed, water, fertiliser and labour — then the harvest comes and sells at the market price with no comparison against cost. Furat makes every production cycle, greenhouse or pond its own cost centre, and manages stock in two units at once: by the kilo and by the box.

Quick answer

What's the best accounting software for farms and agricultural projects in Saudi Arabia?

The right agricultural software must give you five things: every production cycle a cost centre with seeds, feed, water and labour, stock in dual units — by the kilo and by the box — with an approved conversion factor, wholesale and retail sales from the same balance, post-harvest losses recorded, and ZATCA-compliant invoices. Furat brings them together in Arabic; the package starts at SAR 169 a month before VAT, live in two to four days.

Why a system matters here

Why doesn't general accounting work for an agricultural project?

Because your production cycle is longer than your accounting month. You spend on a crop for months, then its revenue comes in within weeks, and its weight changes with drying, grading and losses. A general system spreads the costs over the months and sees sales separately, so it can't tell whether the cycle covered its cost. The right system gathers the cost of the cycle from its start to its harvest and sets it against its revenue.

Each production cycle on its own

Seeds, feed, water, fertiliser and labour are posted to the cycle until harvest, so the cost per kilo shows.

Two units with an approved factor

Buy by the tonne, produce by the kilo and sell by the box, with an approved conversion and no side calculations.

Losses recorded, not hidden

Post-harvest losses are recorded with their quantity, value and cause, so they don't show up as stock you still have.

Benefits

What Furat adds in agriculture, forestry and fishing

Six capabilities built around running farms, greenhouses and fish-farming projects.

Production cycles with a budget

Every cycle, greenhouse or pond has a budget, an actual spend and a unit cost at harvest.

Farm inputs and stock

Seeds, fertiliser, feed and medicines with balances and reorder levels, issued to the cycle rather than to a general expense.

Stock in two units

A balance by the kilo and by the box for every item and grade, with an approved, auditable conversion factor.

Wholesale and retail sales

From the same balance at different prices and through different channels, with the net of every channel after its commissions and transport costs.

Losses and spoilage, reported

Losses recorded with their quantity, value, cause and who recorded them, for every cycle and site separately.

Agricultural assets and equipment

Equipment and irrigation systems with a maintenance log, operating hours and repair costs for every asset.

Risks and losses

How does Furat protect you from losses and risks?

Five losses that keep recurring in agricultural projects, and where the system stops each one with a control, not personal judgement.

RiskHow it happens in practiceThe control in Furat
Selling below the cycle's costThe market price is accepted without knowing the costA unit cost for every cycle, shown before the sale price is approved
Unrecorded lossesShortfalls are cleared with a lump stock adjustmentLosses recorded with their quantity, value and cause as they happen

Market commission not accounted forSelling through an agent with an unknown netEvery channel's commissions are fixed in the system, so the net shows, not the gross

In farming, one cycle sold below its cost wipes out the profit of two good ones. The difference is knowing the cost per kilo before the harvest, not after the sale.

Read your cycle's cost
Before you decide

Six points that settle the decision for an agricultural project

Written in advance, so you can compare them with any provider before you sign.

Run it from the field on a phone

The field supervisor records issues, production and losses from their phone, so the data comes from the site, not from a notebook.

Cold storage and grades

Balances for every grade and cold-storage location, so each grade is priced on its own cost and demand.

Reports fit for the auditor and the bank

Financial statements and cycle cost reports that your auditor accepts, and the bank too when you apply for agricultural finance.

Tax compliance is our job

Every invoice is issued ZATCA-compliant and connected to the FATOORA platform, and every regulatory update reaches your account with no upgrade fee.

Your data stays in the Kingdom, and it is yours

Hosting inside Saudi Arabia, daily backups, and a full export available any time at no charge — your data is never held as leverage over you.

Migration and training at no cost

We move your balances, items and customers from Excel or your current system for free, and train your team remotely in Arabic until your first successful month-end close.

The agriculture package starts at SAR 169 a month before VAT and includes accounting, inventory, cost centres and point of sale; add purchasing and maintenance orders when you need them.

Questions agricultural and fish-farming projects ask

How does Furat work out the cost of a production cycle?

Every cycle, greenhouse or pond is its own cost centre carrying seeds, seedlings, feed, fertiliser, water, electricity, labour and a share of the equipment. At harvest the system divides the total by the sound quantity produced, so the actual cost per kilo shows before the sale price is approved.

Does the system support dual units of measure?

Yes. Every item has a storage unit, a sales unit and an approved conversion factor between them, so you buy by the tonne, produce by the kilo and sell by the box, and the system converts automatically in every transaction and report. The conversion is recorded and auditable, so the calculation no longer lives in a side Excel file.

How are post-harvest losses recorded?

With a separate loss transaction showing the quantity, value, cause and who recorded it, posted to the cycle and the site. So losses don't linger as phantom stock that later turns up as an unexplained count difference, and every cycle's loss rate can be compared with earlier cycles.

How long does it take to get Furat running on an agricultural project?

Two to four working days. We set up the chart of accounts, cycle cost centres and units of measure, migrate your items, inputs, stock balances and customers from Excel for free, train the field team and finance remotely in Arabic, then close your first production cycle with you and review its margin.
